Consultation Paper No. 06/2022 discusses regulation of the Maritime Labor Convention

On June 21, 2022, the Ministry of Labor and Welfare made available the Consultation Paper No. 6/2022 regarding the legislation proposal to regulate the provisions of the Maritime Labor Convention - CTM/2006 (MLC), enacted on April 9, 2021.

The proposed legislation includes matters such as certification procedures for ships under the Brazilian flag; operation of recruitment and placement services for seafarers established in Brazilian territory; and on-board complaints processing system.

The consultation will be available for a period of 30 days and contributions can be made directly on the platform https://www.gov.br/participamaisbrasil/regulamentaconvencaotrabalhomaritimo.

Once the consultation is over, the suggestions will be analyzed by the Secretary of Labor to prepare the final legislation proposal.
